Site Review Committee · Meeting of August 10, 2026

Chilmark Site Review Committee referred stairs application to Zoning Board. The committee on August 10 reviewed an application from Guimaraes Brothers to construct a secondary egress stairway at 90 Hammett Road, owned by Stephen L. and Joan S. Kass.

The stairs would be built within the required 50-foot setback (the property currently has a 35-foot setback), in the Coastal District's inland shore zone. Chair Clarissa Allen, along with representatives from the Select Board, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, found the project a safety requirement with no coastal district concerns. The committee referred it to the Zoning Board of Appeals for special permit relief on setbacks.
