Select Board and Finance Committee Reviewed FY27 Budget, 8.66 Percent Increase

Chilmark Select Board and Finance Committee reviewed FY27 budget with 8.66 percent increase.

Select Board · Meeting of February 10, 2026

Chilmark Select Board and Finance Committee reviewed FY27 budget with 8.66 percent increase. Chairperson Marie Larsen (Select Board) and Chairperson Linda Coutinho (Finance Committee) directed Town Administrator Timothy R. Carroll and Budget Officer Sarah Smith to model scenarios showing tax rate impact and potential reductions before warrant articles are finalized February 11.

Carroll noted $37,000 in savings would equal one penny on the tax rate. The 8.66 percent increase is driven by estimated 15 percent health insurance increase, staffing requests, and an $85,000 Highway Department dump truck warrant article. Martha's Vineyard Commission Director Adam Turner announced he will retire in approximately 18 months, with the MVC planning to hire a replacement in FY27.
