Planning Board · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Chilmark Planning Board's Town Center Walkways Working Group discussed pedestrian safety improvements with Martha's Vineyard Commission representative Adam Turner. Members Ann Wallace, Catherine Thompson, and Janet Weidner met with Turner via Zoom to review the group's Interim Report on town walkways. Turner agreed to provide MVC resources and assist with contact to the Massachusetts State Department of Transportation.

The Working Group is exploring a more defined pathway using existing flagstones around the Library to the Post Office to redirect foot traffic from the Post Office loading zone. A follow-up meeting with Turner and Joint Transportation Committee member Mike Mauro is scheduled for August 19 at 10 a.m.
