CHILMARK — The Chilmark Planning Board voted unanimously to advance a Protected Use ADU bylaw amendment allowing 1,080 square feet on lots of 1 1/2 acres or larger to the Select Board for public hearings. Chairperson Rich Osnoss noted the increase represents 35 percent more space than the former 800-square-foot guest house limit and is intended to provide a replacement for guest houses, offer flexibility, and encourage long-term rentals. Screen porches of 200 square feet or less remain permitted on all lot sizes.

The board also closed a hearing on tennis court and swimming pool definitions following pickle ball play concerns, continued a hearing on eliminating the tennis court definition to May 11 at 4:45 p.m., and continued a hearing on revising Article 2 definitions to April 13 at 4:45 p.m.
