Conservation Commission approves Wetlands Protection Bylaw revisions

Chilmark Conservation Commission unanimously approved revisions to Wetlands Protection Bylaw for April town meeting.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of January 13, 2026

Chilmark Conservation Commission unanimously approved revisions to Wetlands Protection Bylaw for April town meeting. Chair Sarah Khedouri guided the Commission through Town Counsel's feedback, which prompted changes to a 200-foot buffer for great ponds, use of "immediate abutters" to clarify affected parties, and inclusion of language "to the degree permitted by law" regarding delays to second applications pending remediation of prior violations. The revised bylaw goes to the Select Board for the April 2026 Annual Town Meeting.
