Chilmark Conservation Commission approved two waterfront projects and continued a third.
Conservation Commission · Meeting of February 19, 2026
Chilmark Conservation Commission approved two waterfront projects and continued a third. The commission unanimously approved replacement of a deteriorating steel bulkhead at the Menemsha Galley with concrete walkway repair and sinkhole remediation, details to be finalized during state Chapter 91 licensing. The commission also approved beach nourishment and public path installation at Squibnocket Farm with one commissioner opposed; the approval came after a January 15 hearing was continued twice and includes compensatory nourishment, a no-work window for nesting shore birds, and a requirement for monitoring and a managed retreat plan.
The commission continued a Notice of Intent from Piqueabu LLC for bamboo removal in a wetlands buffer zone to March 5, 2026, pending state environmental review.
