Conservation Commission Approves Bamboo Project, Continues Coastal Hearing
Chilmark Conservation Commission approved a bamboo removal project and continued a hearing on coastal home shore protection.
Cemetery Commission · Meeting of July 16, 2026
Chilmark Conservation Commission approved a bamboo removal project and continued a hearing on coastal home shore protection. The commission unanimously approved the Vineyard Open Land Foundation's project at 5 Round Pond Road, involving removal and management of bamboo using a specialized mulching machine in non-wetland areas and hand cutting of stalks within the bordering vegetated wetland. In a continued hearing on Notice of Intent SE12-959 at 18 Greenhouse Lane, the commission requested detailed plans for helical pile installation and asked the applicant to consider amending the application to include home relocation before shore protection work, as all prior approvals for this property since 2016 had required relocation of the structure.
